Sherlin is a specialist in international arbitration with over a decade of experience. She has advised clients in Asia, the Americas, and Europe on all aspects of cross-border disputes from pre-dispute negotiations, during arbitration and litigation proceedings, and post arbitration and litigation proceedings including the issuance of an award or judgment. Sherlin has experience with a number of leading arbitral rules including the AAA, DIAC, HKIAC, ICC, ICDR, SIAC, SCC and UNCITRAL. She has a rare and unique set of skills, which allows her to understand the overlaying objectives not only of her clients but also the strategies implemented by counterparties, how arbitral tribunal members think, and how arbitral institutions operate.
Prior to joining Withers, Sherlin worked with a leading international law firm in Hong Kong where she was a member of the international disputes practice group. Sherlin started her international arbitration career by working with a leading independent arbitrator where she acted as tribunal secretary for complex cross-border disputes. Thereafter, Sherlin worked for the Secretariat of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and was a founding member of the New York case management team. Sherlin also worked in-house with a publicly listed international conglomerate where she handled the group’s international litigation and arbitration disputes.
With her distinctive background and legal experience, Sherlin has an understanding of various players in an international transaction and dispute. This allows her to prepare not only a winning strategy for our clients, but one that is most suited to their needs.
Sherlin is a U.S. qualified attorney (California and New York) and a Registered Foreign Lawyer in Hong Kong. She has spoken extensively worldwide in conferences and also gives lectures and trainings on international arbitration and cross-border disputes.
