Professional liability

Whether you are pursuing or defending a professional negligence claim, we are particularly skilled at handling both sides of disputes in this area.

Regulated professionals have many rules to adhere to when conducting their work. Our unique combination of both defending and prosecuting claims for a wide range of professionals – including accountants, architects, engineers, investment advisors, lawyers, physicians and hospitals, quantity surveyors, real estate professionals and tax advisors – ensures that you will receive holistic advice from our specialist team, whatever your situation.

Making a claim

If you feel you have been the victim of professional negligence, you may consider making a claim against the organisation or individual that resulted in the negligence. We represent claimants against all types of professionals on a variety of complex claims, including family, pensions, tax, judicial review, aviation, real estate, planning, wills/trusts and litigation advice professional standards. In Singapore, we also have experience representing public institutions who govern and regulate the conduct and ethics of associated professionals. In the past, we have prosecuted on behalf of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) in professional disciplinary matters.

Defending a claim

Being on the receiving end of a professional negligence claim can be incredibly daunting, particularly when you are faced with potential reputational damage. We understand that in these circumstances, the stakes are high. We are experienced in defending professionals on their negligence claims, as well as the unions that represent them. In Singapore, we specialise in representing real estate professionals at various levels of the disciplinary proceedings conducted by the Council of Estate Agencies whilst in the UK, we have represented the barristers’ insurance providers, Bar Mutual, for over 20 years defending claims against barristers.

Working together

The unique insight developed acting for both sides of professional liability claims enables our team to stay one step ahead and understand the tactics of the ‘other side’. Our team also works closely with colleagues across the firm, a particular advantage when advising in claims relating to international tax, trusts and matrimonial matters where the firm enjoys a leading reputation.

We will work with you to recognise your specific needs and represent you at the highest level to defend your interests, whether you are bringing a claim or defending one.
