Amanda A. Rottermund
Senior Associate | New York
Amanda is a senior associate in the private client and tax team.
She has focused on art law from the beginning of her legal career, advising on many groundbreaking developments that are changing the landscape of the art market - including NFTs for art and new AR experiences. Amanda’s work focuses on art transactions, and she deals with purchases, sales, loans, consignments, and charitable giving of works of art. She also has robust experience representing borrowers and lenders in lending transactions with fine art as collateral. Amanda works with domestic and international ultra-high net worth individuals and their families on sales and use tax, income tax, gift and transfer tax, and trust and estate planning and audits. She counsels artists and their estates on estate tax and estate administration preparedness and the logistics necessary to administer major asset-backed estates.
Amanda also works with galleries and dealers on their business operations and ventures - advising on template documents, vendor agreements, and terms and conditions. She has experience in regulatory compliance with Fish and Wildlife and other regulatory agencies.
Her alma mater, St. John’s University School of Law, has recognized Amanda as a Next Generation Lawyer for her work in the art law field, in the Spring 2018 edition of its alumni magazine, St. John’s Law Global Edition. Amanda has also been active as both an author and commentator, featured in publications such as Bloomberg BNA; Deloitte Art & Finance Report; Artnet News; Artsy; Trusts & Estates, the ABA’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Journal; and the New York State Bar Association Arts and Sports Law Journal. In addition, Amanda serves as the Secretary of the New York City Bar Association’s Art Law Committee.
